hello all again..
i am wondering..
If my car is due its service on 1st october and i want to sell car,do i get it serviced in the next week or so,or can i save the expense and leave it to the new owner,i dont no if i,m trading it in ,or selling it outright,i,m looking to part with it in the next 2 or 3 weeks.the car is 4 years old but only done 23,900 miles, and the difference in these 2 service costs, is a lot of money.fiat plymouth said to me today that coz the car is 4 years old it has to have a 48,000 mile service and not a 24,000 service.is he right??will that service really make a big difference in price!!

I think im right in saying the service times are done to which come soonest.

For example 24K OR 2yrs
48K OR 4yrs.

So yeah you will need the 4yr service... but if you got to 48K before the 4yrs you'd have to have it done then.

Correct me if im wrong....

hmm sometimes servicing doesnt make that much of a difference - if you wanted to get it serviced i would add the cost of the servicing onto the price or even add a little more and let them knock you down to the cost of what you want to sell the car for anyway, but that depends if you get a garage to service it or fiat - i pay £80 to get mine done - just for a normal service. i would add the cost of servicing though on top of the price. if you wanted to sell it in a week or so - i would leave it - most people are mostly interested in tax and mot

the difference in price is this..
24,000 miles service @ haxbys plymouth fiat dealer is £120,and 48,000 miles service is £210.

i,m thinking that but dont no if its a bargining tool i can use to neg a decent price, cannot workout in my head if it,ll be marked down because it needs service sort ov staright away, also would a dealer look at it that way as well on a Trade in.

If you want to get a few more pennies you can put in the advery 'just had service' when you get it done... and perhaps if you dont get it serviced people will knock the price off the car for a service and offer you that.

When i bought my car it needed tax, service, and new tyres. We got the cost of these knocked off the price.

Hello there
i here what your saying, and sound sensible,i am only trying to determin if it will be of benifit to pay out the costs,i have never done a deal with cars before my dad bought this fiat and i cannot get any advice of him due to he,s away at sea,and he was good for advice lol..if all i,m going to get is £3 ,000 for it according to same dealer who i mentioned above:(

It may be worth getting it serviced now as then it will be in tip-top condition, eliminate any little niggles it might have and make it more sellable, for example if then engine runs a little smoother due to all the filters and oil being changed the buyers will hopefully be more impressed. You can also point out it's in excellent condition, x miles until the next service and provide a up-to-date service history for the buyer.

Would you not sell it privatly?

You'd get alot more for it... something nearer what its worth anyway :p
