Our weather has become hot for this region around 30 Celsius, sometimes higher. My a/c machine seems to work however the air coming out of the vents is almost a mix of hot and cold.

I turn the dash board knobs as follows:

- Temperature to maximum cold (largest blue dot)
- Circulation knob to re-circulation
- machine knob to maximum (#4)
- Air flow knob to air vents on middle and side of dashboard

It may need regarding? It may need a new condenser or more worrying if it has climate control there could be a blend door issue

Doesnt sound like the Electronic Climate version 😉

Some say the pump won't run if there is low pressure 🤔

I try and use my Aircon system regularly, so keep the seals in good condition

But the 500 has struggled to keep cool in this 35'c weather,

In the mornings it feels pretty chilly, so is definitely having SOME effect.. 😊

Is there any easy way of determining if the A/C is as cold as it can be? I've recently bought a 2017 Fiat 500 Lounge, and whilst the aircon is cold, it's not ice cold even on the coldest setting. At the same time I don't really want to pay for a regas if there's nothing actually wrong with it and my expectations are out of whack.

I know Halfords do "free" aircon checks, but given that they are free are they not likely to tell me it needs doing regardless?

It's wise to get it re gassed regardless and never turn it off, the ac.
Set to coldest, run the ac, with a temp probe in the vent should be around 5-8c when all good?
New cabin filter too

Thanks. I went crazy with servicing when I got the car (for my niece) as it didn’t have a service history, and had done 47k miles, so pretty sure the cabin filter has been done, but I’ll check.

i struggled however finally was successful in replacing the new filter. Not much difference but the weather is 32 celcius and cool air is coming out just not cold.

..... and cool air is coming out just not cold.
You will know if it's working, its very cold. There's no 'maybe' about it, you will definitely notice the difference.

As said before, Halfords will check it, and at the very least tell you if it is leaking. If it fails their leak test they won't go any further.

I found the solution for my situation so I will share it for newcomers to the Fiat 500 like me. What i was doing wrong was not pressing in the air control knob which is what starts the air conditioning in the car.
DOH! (but it was a cheep fix financially (y) ) just a bit expensive for your ego!:oops::sneaky:
