I thought we could have a party political thread we could all agree on. I saw on the news this morning that one of the Conservative party policy groups is proposing an increase in the price of beer by raising the tax on it. I think this would be a bad thing.

where are all the smokers who reasoned drinking was worse than smoking and somthing needs done about it?

Hold up, isn't that the kind of thing we pay INCOME tax for? Or is that from our petrol taxes?

I forget which visible/stealth tax junkie scum are funded from. Line em up, one by one push them off a cliff. To hell with yet more PC taxes...(n)

we've had alcohol taxes for over 300 years, and its gone up under every government in recent history, so why is this news?

the only interesting point is that the 7p per pint figure would mean roughly 14 years worth of increases would be happening at once. thats still nothing compared to the actual change in cost of living when you look at fuel price changes recently.

Yet another thing that everyone buys and putting up a few pence wont stop anyone buying it, but the government use the premise of it stopping a problem.

Years of putting up fags did bugger all apart from net them more in tax than the entire buget of the NHS each year.

Ban alcohol like cigs then, go on, I dare you!

This is why I voted for charles Kennedy (not!)

However, this morning brings good news. Married couples income is going to increase (y)
