Just out of interest, any idea how powerful a 126 is and does it have a decent power to weight ratio.

I noticed there is quite a few people from Leicester so I will mention the location. I did a standing start from Fosse Park heading toward Braunstone down that bypass and I got my arse absolutely kicked by a J reg 126! It might have something to do with me having £25 worth of petrol on board and him pulling in to a station, but he was absolutely flying. Any ideas about the performance of these cars? Are a lot of them modded?

I'd say either your Cinq is very poorly, or you met a tuned 126.

They are among the millions of things I don't know very much about... but,
as standard somewhere around 26 bhp, and 600kg.

Your Cinq aught to be about 40 bhp, and 700kg.

AIUI the cylinder head off a Panda 34 fits and helps it a lot, but even so it shouldn't have been much of a contest :I

It also involved a roundabout and that is when he passed me. I find it very hard in my car to corner well due to very excessive body rollB)

Anyway, I blame the boots I was wearing. Could barely feel the pedals! lol:p

It must have been modded! It was going faster than 65mph on the dual carridgeway.

can't you drop in a modded vw beetle engine in them? i know you can in the old 500. Theres a couple of them on the drag scene, with 2.1-2.4l 150bhp+ engines....nice[}:)]

Was the wife's but its mine now!!
Lowered 40mm: Its a go-kart!!!

ive heard of the beetle engine in the 500 - shouldnt think theyre much differnt

ive seen the V8 drag ones aswell - mental is an understatment

but they do look like tonka toys flying up the pass [8D]

I've seen a 126 at the Donny custom car show ages ago that had a 2-litre Sapphire Cosworth engine in the front...the whole front end of the car had been gutted and made to fit the engine, the front seats were where the back seats should be, and the car was rear-drive. Claimed figures were 270bhp, 800kg, 0-60 in just under 5 secs. Must have been a scary car to drive!
Got me thinking now...Porsche 911's are rear engined...how about an old air-cooled flat six in a 126??

Ive driven a 126Bis J reg - I found it highly amuzing and fun - wouldn't like to drive one long distance mind. When I go to trak days they are quite popular for racing also the grass trakers use parts of the chasis and shell. so they cant be that bad - can they?????!!!!!:p

I have a bling* bling* shiny blue thing
