Tuning 8v to 16v with a head start

Well lads so I’m looking to swap the 8v in my 2002 mk2 with a 16v. Now I know this topic has come up many times in this forum but this is different. I know you need the loom ecu bcu (which I think is the fuse box under the bonnet?) and the ignition barrel for the swap. Now I’m lucky to own another mint mk2 sporting with a ****ed engine and a virginised ecu for a 16v engine which I think will learn the bcu if I’m correct. Being a sporting it has the 6 speed box, So I have a bit of a head start with the swap. So I wondering will the virginised ecu be of use? Can I just get a 16v engine and noting else? And I know that I could buy another sporting for the price of the swap, I am well aware that it’ll be more expensive to do this but I’m desperately in love with this car and I’d Rather spend double the money on her if needs be. i think you will find the security system of Fiat is sufficiently robust that you need to do a like for like replacement of a virgin ECU. You need the 16V electronics as already described.

Ok so, ecu should do the job? and I’ve all the electrics from the sporting so should be all good there

You cannot put the 16V ecu and 16V engine into the 8V car, where you have only replaced the 16V engine and ECU

So your saying I would have to replace all the wiring from the 16v to the 8?

In your first post you say you know you need the wiring loom ECU and BCU. The BCU is not the engine fuse box. It the fusebox and computer inside the car.
