General 600 won't start, help

Hi, hope anyone can give me a clue of what may be happening to my seicento. It's a sport 1.1 2001 , 44m.

The car sometimes doesn't start. This could last for a few hours or days and suddenly, without doing anything it starts.

When you fill up the tank the problem goes away for a while until the meter reaches half full.

When you park the car facing up the hill it won't start.

Tryed to push-start once and didn't work. After a few seconds, turned the key and it started.


The battery is fine by the way and the car drives ok, no problems at all.

Fuel pump, filter or pipe leak springs to mind.

If its 2001, you prob need to drop the tank to do the filter, pita!

To confirm its a fuel issue, take a plug out after you have tried to start it. If its dry, its probably a lack of fuel. I would be more inclined to check the pump is seated properly.

you can access the pump from inside the car. lift the back seats and theres a silver hatch held down with 4 bolts. this covers the pump. mines a 2001 and my fuel filter is built into the pump and is not renewable without changing the pump. ring fiat with your chasis number and they will confirm that for you.
