I have a 60bhp (58) Punto and noticed that on parkers and in the glasses trade books that the 60 bhp manual puntos arent mentioned, only the automatic (Selecta).

I own a 1999 Fiat Punto mk1 60 SX, and this is a manual, does anyone know why or is it just a special edition sort of thing.

the photo on the signature suggests that the SX in question is just fitted with the standard four speaker system...

It's unusual that the 60 isn't mentioned as they seem to be possibly the most common MK1? I do see a few 55's but not as often as the 60's... at least in my area...

must just have my screen set that bit brighter... they'd be well tiny speakers to not break the trim line near the bottom...

It has a four speaker system, i believe, two on the dash and two way back in the rear of the vehicle!

Its got a digital Standard Fiat Radio with digital volume + and - and CD changer controls aswell as steering controls.

Can't seem to find it listed anywhere, i have the glasses trade guide (the dealers use) and it isnt mentioned in their either!

Only the 55SX with PAS and Alloys listed which was introduced in 1999, ours is the same except with a 60 bhp engine

I was under the impression that the Punto came in three different petrol engines as MK1 (55, 60 and 75) I didn't think any were replaced by others...

It's all a bit complicated. Around '97 or '98 the 75 was replaced by the 85 (1.2 16v), the 55 went out of production as the 60 was pretty similar in terms of performance, and I can't remember exactly when the Sporting changed from the 1.6 8v to the 1.2 16v, but it was probably around the same time.

Insane really!

Johnny - how come your Punto doesnt have front fog lamps? I thougt all SX's had them?

 it has got front fog lamps! Might be a bit hard to see in my sig pic, but they're there (y)

Here's a clearer one! :D

The way parkers produce their guides, it shows the first cars to be introduced, then the replacement models later. Hence if you look down the models it will show 55, 60 Selecta, 75, 90 and GT. If you keep on looking you will then see the next 'batch' starts with 60, then 75 (for the facelifted SX that was produced in 1997 when stocks of the 16v motor were limited so they only went into ELX/ Sporting), 85 16v, GT.

For ref:

Mk 1 Pre facelift (From 1994 although some were added later such as the 75 3-door models followed after 6-months etc.):

55 S
55 SX
55 EL 6 speed (only for about the first 18 months)
55 SX 6 speed (once the EL had been removed from the range)
60 SX 'Selecta'
75 SX
75 ELX
90 ELX (later in model year)
90 ELX Cabrio
90 Sporting (Later in model year)
1.7 TDS (Later in model year. 3dr only and very short-lived)
1.7 DS (Introduced in 1995)
1.7 TD SX
1.4 GT

Mk 1 Post facelift (Summer 1997 onwards):
60 S
60 SX
60 SX 'Selecta'
75 SX (short lived, only for the first 6 months of the faceilft range)
85 16v SX (once 75SX was phased out)
85 16v ELX
85 16v Sporting
85 16v ELX Cabrio
1.7 TD60 S
1.7 TD70 SX
