lower it by 40 mate unless u live in an area with no speed bumps and no pot holes mine is lowerd by 40 and i the underneith my car scrapes evrytime i go over a speed bump! but its totaly up to u as for the insurance thing i dont no bout that!

I've driven a Sei lowered by 35mm on uprated springs and shocks (gmax) riding on Abarth 14's and it didn't cause a single problem with speed bumps or anything. Had a tiny scrape on a speedbump when i was going a bit fast with 5 ppl in the car, but if i'd slowed down a bit more pretty sure it wouldn't have touched it

mine is dropped by around 50mm, and thats a tad low imo. it can cause problems, my tyres catch on cornering but that is down to my large profile tyres and big rolling radius.

gex has a sei abarth dropped 40mm on pi springs, with std sized tyres on the 14" wheels. We've never heard it catch, but it does catch as there is wear on the tyre where its hit. Again, it does have trouble with certain speed bumps. Not had to turn around cos of one, but major slowing down and crawling over them needed

60mm is too low really, you'll catch everything unless you're on 15's with rolled arches. Problem with that drop is that you run out of suspension travel too unless you get shortened shocks, and bat the bump stops with every matchstick you drive over.

If you don't cut the bump stops down, even on 40mm drop, you'll struggle too.

Insurance - you'll have to ask them, really. Companies vary in their replies.

My Civic is on coilovers down about 60 on 18's. Get it dropped on its ass mate, will look trick, plus will handle stacks better. :D

I just avoid speed humps or go slowly.

A friend of mine with a 106GTI has it seriuosly on the floor, check out the back end of this,

thats how i want mine to look propper slammed like that pug but i seem to live in the speed bump capital and my brothers corsa is lowered 60-70 mm and it scrapes every time he goes out of the drive

Also i dont know how true this is but have been told by larkspeed that if i lower it 60mm it wont handle as well as if i lowered it 40 mm because there wont been enough suspension travel

Mine is lowered 40mm front and 45mm rear. Insruance company didn't mind too much at all. I wouldn't recommend doing 60 though as mine nearly rub as it is.

Larkspeed are right, extreme lowering only alters the centre of gravity but with Adj shocks you can replicate the effect by stiffening the car whilst retaining near original ride height.

I was gonna go low but due to speed bumps, kids putting rubble in the road and flooded roads around me it was simply not worth it but the decision is yours mate.

yep, and the ride quality will be bloody awful as it'll be sitting on the bump stops 90% of the time.

well have just ordered the 40mm Apex lowering suspension kit for my cinq this afternoon after listening to you lot on here and seeing what you have on your cars it is due next week some time fingers crossed

My suspension is pathetic at the moment its like driving a barge and is making me slow down even more for the bends although i love driving even more since i passed my test on monday it also seems so much quicker with just me in.

well done on your purchase there mate. I'm running the Apex kit and can't fault it

I've had it for about 4 months now. still in great condition. took about a month to settle to a good lowered look. ride is top-notch though. hardly any body roll. but still bearable as an everyday car. I suppose it just feels much more solid under pressure
