My car occasionally slows down shortly after setting off.Its almost as if it going to run out of petrol.I really have to put my foot down on accelerator and it goes ok.

Anyone any ideas to the problem.

Also trying to get into the thing on a winters morning is a nightmare.
The doors completely freeze, locks and all around the door seal.Ive had to go in through the boot some days. Now my locks packed up on that.;)

Hi,
Clean and then use vaseline or baby oil on the door seals.
Does the car act up all the time or just in cold weather?

Oh and welcome to the forum :D

Could be the temp sensor. One of the Punto mob will be able to answer that one better.
Good luck :D

Could be a Lambda problem, my 55SX occasionally does this and I know for sure that my Lambda is knackered. (But I can't get the bloody thing off or afford to buy a new one... [xx(])

Yes they are:I It's basically a part of the engine that regulates emissions and gives info to help the computer adjust the way the engine works. When it goes wrong you can end up with poor economy, stinky car, all manner of things. It's a good idea to get it checked out if you can before the catalyst gets damaged or something, IF that's what it is. The thing is, if it was that, the engine management warning light on teh dashboard should really be on.

I suppose it might be that the gauze filter on the breather system has become blocked. Mine was totally clogged when I first got the car. If this it blocked it can make the electronics go a bit nuts. Luckily it's easy to clean. Juss pull the breather hose away from the airbox and check it. If you can't see through it, nasty. Push it out and clean the gauze then push it back in.

By the way, is your engine rattling at all? If so I might have another theory why it's acting up. In any case, it's probably a good idea to change the oil and filter asap. When was the last time you did that?

As for the boot lock, mine was like that and wouldn't open for anything until I attacked it with WD40 one day. No more problem [8D]

Tried the WD40 but still no joy,the key just wont turn.
It has'nt had an oil change in a long while:-/,but will get it serviced soon.

Thanks for the tips tho:D

A small engine needs regular oil changes, do that first and you might see your problem disappear.

If it's still there, I'm increasingly thinking it could be ignition coils - Punto's most common problem.

Prob one of your ignition coils. V.Common in puntos. Not too much hassle to fix though. As fiats have two it wont stop you running but your engine wont pick up in higher gears and 5th becomes redundant.
