My 1.6 diesel seems to have developed quite a bit of turbo lag at 2000rpm, I can drive round it and haven't noticed it before. The cars now done 20,000 miles and otherwise runs great. I always use good quality fuels so don't think it's that. Has anyone else noticed this issue on their car?

Thanks

Not noticed lag on ours Ian but it takes me a few streets to get used to the wife's every time I use it and the 'programmed-in' throttle increase whenever you pull away in first. I'm guessing this is to deliberately prevent stall but has made me lurch forward a couple of times by surprise (if you get what I mean.)

My 1.4 Multiair turbo has quite a bit of lag, done around 23k miles. I've never had a turbo before so I've nothing to compare it against.

Of course, that's when the turbo actually works. Trying to save up to get my intercooler fixed (bloody wildlife in the road) so on a cold start I really have to nurse it for the first five minutes or no turbo until I do a full on/off reboot of the car!

At around 2000rpm is when the EGR circuit opens on most turbo diesel engines. EGR issues, not sufficient to throw a fault, *could* be at play. On my 1.9 16V Multijet Croma 2005 I could detect when the EGR was opening. Could be a general age, normal, etc. or the beginning of a developing problem. e.g. split in EGR piping.
