Hi All
A few years ago I put an 86(I think) 4x4 running gear in a box steel chassis for farm pickup use. Its been great but needs a whole load of new(er) bits now. Have been looking around for another 4x4 but I was wondering how much of a 'fire' 2WD would be common with my 4X4, if I find one first. I don’t need any body bits.(coz there isn’t one)

I mainly need stuff like outer CV, calipers, front bearings and a non leaky engine would be nice.
Is the propshaft drive just missing in the 2WD or is the gearbox totally different?
Also I think the clutch bits are beginning to play up and master cyl and servo vac thing.

I have uploaded a photo of said vehicle to the gallery.

As yet I haven’t tried any motor factors for ‘perishables’ like boots, gaskets etc. are they still readily available in UK.

Thanks

I will answer of my own questions after a day working on the vehicle. Engine is sat on workshop floor with gearbox off.
Everything inside the bell housing was a lump of rust and spider nests but flywheel has cleaned up nice. New clutch kit 60 quid.
I was presently surprised that most of the bits are on the shelf of the local motor factors at reasonable prices so am not really looking for another vehicle now, unless the front wheel assy is beyond repair.
Distributer is in a bit of a state but may fit a ford EDIS system. Lots of web info on this, try a search, also check out Autosportslabs.

Could do with some tractor style tyres for the wheels but cant find any for this size rim.

4x4! Box section chassis! I got all excited, thinking "maybe it's another Rat!".

Then I had a look at the picture. Oh well.

Welcome to the forum mate and congratulations on having a car even more ugly than mine.

The FIRE engine can be made to fit by making a new engine mount on the opposite side to the gearbox if you're so inclined.

The gearbox is unique to the 4x4 model, as is the rest of the drivetrain from there on (obviously) but a lot of the mechanical bits and pieces from the later FIRE engined Pandas are interchangable.

There's an official FIAT electronic parts catalogue integrated into the forum caller ePER which you can use to check the parts you need.
