I have got a 2014 Ducato 130 Multijet 2,3 D and it seems that I have a faulty fuel temp sensor. The problem is that I cant locate the sensor!
All the guides I can find says the sensor is located on top of the fuel filter and shows filters looking like this:

But that seems to be an older type, or something, because my filter looks like this: https://www.autodoc.se/ridex/8097138#branslefilter .
On this filter I can´t see any place for a fuel temp sensor, just for the fuel water sensor in the bottom.
So can anyone please help me find the location of the fuel temperature sensor on my car!
I don´t want to have to take the van to an Fiat mechanic for this as it is quite a cheap part to buy and seems it should be easy enough to change yourself.

Hi gonbes,

Your second photo (post #2) shows a metal canister filter which was used on earlier models. The plastic bodied (green filter) would have been the original fitment. I have a similar filter on my 2006 x244, but it is an all black "green filter". These filters gained a reputation for failure after servicing, possibly by gripping in a vice, and not using the correct tool when changing the element, causing cracks to start. It is possible that a disgruntled former owner has fitted the earlier metal bodied filter.

Attached is an extract from Fiat x244 eLearn, but I suspect that the designations for items 5 and 6 may be reversed. The sensor will have three connections, and the heating elemnt only requires two. Perhaps you could confirm whether the diagram is correct, or not?

My x250 euro 5 had the filter in the photo. The two euro 4 ones I had were fitted with the plastic one in the initial post. There was a changeover about 2012 or so but I am not sure whether the metal one was fitted to late euro 4 models. I thought the metal filter temperatures sensor was part of the unit that screws into its base ?

Would that not be the moisture sensor?

I thought it was combined. I did change the filter and swopped the sensor to the new one but didn't take much notice of the number of wires. It appears to be sensor K081 on elearn but that might not be very helpful.
In a previous topic regarding the 2.2 engine K081 appeared to be screwed into the High Pressure Pump https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/2008-fiat-ducato-fuel-temperature-sensor.494764/

Your info is probably more accurate, as mine relates to the x244. eLearn for the x244 only shows the heater on the wiring diagram relating to the canister filter, while the diagram for the "green filter" shows heater and temp sensor on 4 pole connector, with water sensor having separate 3 pole connector.

If I get you right this means there is 2 variants (at least...) of the moisture sensor, one with integrated temp sensor and one without?
Could that possibly mean that the garage got the wrong kind when they changed my moisture sensor - and because of that I now get this OBD2 Diagnostic Trouble Code P0180?

Wrong it is just a replaceable unit, I think the same as in your 3.24 photo.
I don't know if there are two variants of it with water and temperature sensors.

Got this answer (seems to me like my garage took a shortcut & got me some troubles)
"Hi Göran, If I remember correctly, I think you need to buy the filter housing, made by UFI. As far as I am aware, the filters with the heater are all cartidge type filters, like the KX398, that sit in the UFI housing. We used to deal with UFI and the filter housings for those were expensive (over £100 and that was about 10 years ago) and fragile, plus you needed the filter (about £50), so it wouldn't surprise me if someone has used an inline filter, like the KL977D, to replace it as it's much cheaper. If the van is in the UK, it doesn't really need a diesel heater, that's for cold climates. https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-91681-...rtsgroupid=100261&genericpartname=Fuel Filter I've had a quick Google and that backs it up, you need the UFI housing. If you google "UFI fuel filter housing ducato" it will show you them, but there are different options, so you'd need a look up to find the right one. Unfortunately, we don't offer an alternative. I would need to be convinced that anyone would go to that trouble. The fuel connectors plus the water sensor connection would have to be changed. Your model is about the time when preparatory changes for euro 5 were introduced. Has your MH got the grey or black dashboard?
The last of the euro 4's were a hybrid of parts that were to be used at euro 5 including the black dashboard.

Look at the wiring connector for the sensor that screws into bottom of metal filter , how many wires does connector have?

In my opinion this could be a combined water and fuel temperature sensor as it has 5 electrical pins

A "problem" is that my water sensor is completely new. The temp sensor-problem arose when I fetched the van from the garage.

Did the problem occur when the new water sensor was fitted?

They broke the water sensor when the changed my fuel filter - I had to go away with the van so I came back later to get the new water sensor mounted. After that the engine light was still on and this time the code was P0180, indicating problems with the fuel temperature sensor... :cautious:
