Just had starter motor replaced and now car reads an immobiliser fault code and nothing when turning the key at all, dash lights come on but no sound at all. Spare key doesn't work so shouldn't be the key. have been told various things such as could be ECU or that its a Fiat Dealer problem for re-set. the person fitting the starter replaced fuse and we have disconnected battery for a bit and re-connected to no avail.

Any help or advice welcome

Loads of people have a problem after replacing fiat 1.2 starters because fiat use a very unusual system for connecting the states thin trigger wire to the starter motor. It has to be reassembled in exactly the correct order or it won't work.

If when you turn key on you are left with a code light or a padlock light you have an immobilizer problem .

The immobilizer does not usually stop the starter motor turning.....but it will stop engine start
