Hi can anyone provide instruction on replacement of 2012 Electric Door Mirror on The Panda ( drivers side - the one with the electric button on)
There is plenty about for the earlier models and the mechanical one but I can find nothing on this model

Model
Fiat Panda
Year
2012
Mileage
45000
No. But I suspect the process is similar to manual mirror replacement (see YT below)
Assuming it’s the mirror that’s broken (collision?) then as you follow the YT instructions you would need to take careful note of the electrical cables +connectors and carefully detach these (and don’t let them drop inside the door frame!) so that you can complete the dismantlement/removal process as shown, and then just reverse the process installing the new mirror +reconnecting the electrical connectors.
What I don’t know is whether you should disconnect the battery first? Perhaps another member can help out here?
If not, try asking your supplier
Personally I’m not confident disconnecting the battery because “I don’t know what I don’t know”…
Btw, English subtitles are available for this YT but only if you watch it in the YouTube app, not here (select auto translate from the gear wheel icon)
Good luck!

Thank you JayAre
It was a “drive by” whilst parked. The electric is working on the other side but not the drivers side and the mirror casing and cover panel are broken ( but the glass is OK!). I think it would be wise to find out which fuse operates the mirrors and take that out whilst I change it

I’m not sure if the switch comes off with the inner panel or if I have to remove that first

Incidentally, that video was for the left mirror which it says has the car temperature sensor in it . So there is a “bump” on the bottom of the mirror. My left hand mirror has no bump but I also don’t have a temperature display. Has someone replaced that in the past or don’t all models have an external temperature sensor?

Bad luck ☹️ Guess you don’t want that to happen again…

“Manual folding
When required, fold the mirrors toward the vehicle interior” (Owner Manual)

duh 🙄 of course!

These are the fuses shown in the 2012 Owner Manual (attached)

My left hand mirror has no bump but I also don’t have a temperature display

Mine’s 2016 so there is a temp display - I will check the mirrors for “bumps”

Edit: the video at 2:10 shows the wiring +connector for a temperature sensor and that it is not connected to anything because, as he says, that car has no temp sensor. So it seems likely your car may have the same wiring +connector already installed but not connected, in which case you don’t have to do anything with it

Thanks, that is all very helpful.

UPDATE
Just checked and, yes, my L/H wing mirror does indeed have the “bump” temp sensor (the unit sits inside the casing and a tiny “nipple” protrudes through a hole at the bottom).
The way manufacturers make cars the wiring+connector for things like this is often in place in which case, were you to want a wired sensor, you can buy them cheaply online and it might then operate the dash external temp display - but you would have to dismantle the L/H mirror too in order to find out - and then drill a suitable hole and fit a seal for the sensor (or source a replacement bottom casing)

Here is an old thread on this and these issues, which may be of help/interest - good luck!
