Have you checked the wiring loom between body and lid? In many cases the wiring at this point fractures due to insufficiant flexibility. .
I have, the loom is in good condition. I have checked the micro switch, that is working...& there seems to be voltages across the wires.... I am not sure what should be where however... the other thing I have noticed is with the boot open, if the boot release handle is pushed or the fob unlock is pressed...there is a slight movement on the unlock motor in the lock.
if the lock is in its closed posotion...there is nothing?

That last bit would suggest to me the solenoid itself is faulty and lacks the power to pull the lock release.

I haven't seen the set-up myself but can you disconnect the solenoid from the lock and test it without load?
This lock has a motor not a solenoid & at expense this has just been replaced with a new one.
I could unplug it... but then what do I measure & where? As I said the lock is brand new....

I'd have a look at mine but it's too wet, cold and late at night right now.

Still sounds to me like a wiring problem - maybe hanging on by a thread (single copper strand) and not enough current gets through to drive the motor.
