Hi guys need some advice , I recently smashed the casing on my nearside door mirror. So ordered a pattern part door mirror electric heated & adjusted . Question is when changing mirror the original had two other sets of wires and plugs , making 3 plugs and sets of wires. I don’t know what those other two plugs are for so put old mirror back on . Any advice would be appreciated Please

The only things I can think of that require wiring in the door mirrors are:

  • Heating
  • Adjustment
  • Power Folding
  • Temperature Sender
  • Radio aerial

The power folding option is rare.
The temperature sender is, AFAIK, in the offside mirror (mine is)
The radio aerial is, again AFAIK, in the nearside mirror, but is generally only relevant when the option has been selected where an overcab aerial isn't possible (e.g. on a motorhome).

Many thanks for reply, the vehicle is a mo’home. But not fold Flat and did not see a lead that would resemble an aerial lead. Have heard that there can be aerial Booster wiring and plug! Who knows. I will probably fit the pattern part and then discover what they are for when Driving ? lol

The temp sensor is often a protruding pip

Cars : its Drivers side and lower edge

You will have an annoyong -20'c showing probably ;)

Adjustment.. in a Uk nearside mirror.. its probably unnecessary anyway

If you have a radio, and there is no sign of an external aerial, then (given it's a motorhome) it is likely that you have the mirror aerial.

I'm not sure about 2008, but it is possible that it has two connections (DAB and FM aerial) or a single aerial connection and a power lead (as it is a powered/amplified unit).

The aerial connection(s) is likely to be a Fakra or similar connection, which doesn't look like a conventional aerial plug/socket.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it will be some form of aerial connection, and the number of wires varies as per the spec of the aerial.

I suggest you peruse the page here:

https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/body-exhaust/mirrors/complete-mirrors.html

(You may have to specify your vehicle details (e.g. year) on the left to cut the choices down depending on how much the link retains)

And particularly:

https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/bod...y-left-long-arm-mirror-with-aerial-06-14.html

and

https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/bod...-left-medium-mirror-with-fm-aerial-06-14.html

.....as each version has enlargeable pictures of the connections where the number and type is pretty obvious.

The above two selected are a long and medium arm, respectively, simply to show the different connections for an FM and combined FM/DAB aerial - you obviously need a correct length replacement.
