hi, i have a 2008 ducato 2.3 jtd with a strange problem... it start all right , idles fine, you can rev it up to 1500 rpm fine but when you get to 1500 starts missfireing and hesitating, once you have past 1500 rpm it runs fine again but brings a fault code p0335 rpm sensor witch i have changed without success, it also bring the temperature gauge on the dash up when its after 1500 rpm witch lead me to belive that its an ecu fault as it was doing the same thing even with the temperature sensor unpluged!

its got 260000 miles, i have checked the timing with is spot on, changed crank and cam sensors, ecu set (dash, ecu, and body computer), engine wiring loom, if anybody has any ideeas please let me know as i`m about to burn the f**ker down!
thnks

How did you check the crank and cam sensors oscilloscope? Did you check the flywheel for damage / rust, regap the cam sensor, check for endfloat in the cam / crank.

I don't have an oscilloscope yet, have ordered one should have it by tomorrow , the crank sensor its on a phonic wheel witch its mounted on the crank itself , have taken the sump out and can't see any obvious damage.

Have put a scope on the crank and I have this wave, I'm a newbie on scope but this to me looks like a bad wave witch tells me the my phoneic wheel is not how it's suppose to be!
What do you think

Looks like the wheel has 59 teeth, one tooth missing to indicate tdc.
The one larger excursion I cannot explain, possibly interference from another signal.

If its the same mess on every cycle then the phonic wheel is probably damaged ... by what though ... Was there anything in the sump. last time I saw one like that the engine had inhaled part of a blown turbo core and nicked a tooth on the wheel. Could just be the probe slipping if you just saw it once.

Manger to find the problem , found the original owner of the van and he took it to a garage to have the timing belt done and the front crank seal , and the idiot that done the job put the crank timing pin in and gun off the main pulley bolt and bent the phonic wheel as the pin goes through it ! See the pic of the wheel attached

Well done. You did better than 3 main dealers did with the one I mentioned, they all changed the crank sensor knowing it had already been changed , and then changed random other parts  like you took a couple of minutes with a scope for us to see the problem.
