Having rebuilt the suspension I intend to give my partner's 2006 1.2 Dynamic a full service.
My question relates to the Dualogic gearbox.
Is it like a normal box in the way that you check the oil? i.e. undo the fill plug & put oil in until it overflows? If so, what spec oil does it need?
Is it worth draining & changing the oil, or just top up?
Is there any maintenance required on the Dualogic mechanism?
Thanks in advance for your help.

bottom half normal gearbox normal maintenance
yes worth changing as per maintenance schedule in owner manual.
yes top up is till it overflows. Easy job.

the oil is specified in the owner manual. The grade keeps changing according to year. I doubt its to critical.

There is also hydraulic oil in the robotics that should be changed
expensive specialist oil and needs the right software to bleed.
Best left to a auto specialist.

Thanks for the reply, but the Dualogic supplement just says refer to dealer.
Do you know the oil spec please?
And maybe a rough cost of a dealer changing the hydraulic fluid? I guess that has to be a main dealer.

you will need a 12mm and 8mm hex from memory.

there's only just enough room as the robotics makes access slightly more difficult

shouldn't be too expensive for the hydraulics

its a simple quick job. Drain, fill, bleed via software, then top up.

Its up to you whether its worth the purchase of the software and do it yourself. If you have an old laptop running Windows your part way there. But you would be better of with advise from someone with a dualogic and has done the job.

Aye, there was a recent thread on the 500 section, owner reported they couldn't access the gearbox filler plug on the front of the transmission as the Dualogic robot is in the way.

Make sure you can access & loosen the 12mm hex fill plug BEFORE removing the 8mm hex drain plug!

I put 1.65l of 75W-80 as specified in my handbook in the transmission. Either API GL4 or GL5 is fine. Some have used the more readily available 75W-90

The Dualogic reservoir specifies a different fluid, Tutela CS Speed, available here: https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Product&ProdID=1161

There's a procedure for checking the Dualogic oil level as the system should be depressurised first.

Personally, I'd try to find an independent FIAT/Alfa specialist familiar with Dualogic/Selespeed rather than a main dealer.

Hopefully these threads are useful just in case you were thinking of tackling it yourself:
