Technical 2004 Fiat Panda gearbox into 2009 Grand Punto

Can anyone tell me if the gearbox from a 1.2 2004 Panda will fit a 2009 Grande Punto with no issues?

Went to change a clutch and the thrust bearing has caused so much damage to the shaft where its gouged and scratched the surface that the replacement thrust bearing isn't going to last two seconds.

2004 Panda has just come into a yard near me and cosmetically it looks the same, but don't want the ball ache of removing from Panda only to find it won't fit Grande Punto

I was thinking it was unlikely
( the grande is the 'GM Era')

Hello folks, will a 1.2 8v gearbox from say a 51 plate Punto fit a 2006 Grande 1.2 8v Punto or are there differences to stop me? Getting a replacement gearbox for a Grande seems a bit steep, but the older Puntos (MK2) are more plentiful. Ta in advance
