Technical 2.8jtd fuel shut off

Common rail engines, of which the JTD and Multijet are examples, do not have a fuel cut off solenoid which is feature of earlier engines.

The injectors are electrically controlled by the engine ECU.

Hence for possible causes faulty injectors, faulty ECU, incorrect fuel rail pressure should be considered. Also is it possible that the ECU is permanently energised due to a faulty ignition switch, or even the main injection relay. Wiring faults are also a possibility that should be excluded.

If the engine is in poor condition, it may be possible for the engine to run on by burning the engine oil.

I am assuming that the vehicle has the UFI (so called green) fuel filter and is without EGR. I am attaching pdf copies of the appropriate eLearn diagrams for this combination.
