Hey Fiat Forum Members can you answer these ones
1999 Fiat Seicento Suite
Does this car have a timing belt?

If so where is it situated on engine?

Is the water pump driven by the fan belt opposed to the timing belt?

Is the water pump situated front left bottomish of engine?

Is there a specific brake bleeding order? as i usually start the furthest away from the fluid container and then the next furthest until the last finishing the closest to the container in that order.
back driver side
back passenger side
front driver side
front passenger side, container side

Can a slack fan belt be tightened on this car?
Is replacement of the fan belt done just by undoing the alternater bolts?

Seven questions for people that know their stuff!!!;) CHEERS

The 1.1 SPI and MPI have a timing belt, the 0.9 has a timing chain.
Its located at the left side of the engine when standing in front of the car.
With the 1.1 SPI/MPI the water pump is driven by the timing belt, for the 0.9 its driven by the v belt.
For all the engines the water pump is located at the left. With the 1.1 behind the timing belt cover and the 0.9 its a loose bolted pump where the coolant hoses are connected to.
With the brake bleeding, i always start with emptying the reservoir, filling it and then actually no specific order, just bleed till clean brake fluid shows with a vacuum bleeder.
The v belt and multi v belt on all engines can be tightened by adjusting the alternator.
And finnaly yes you van loosen the alternator bolts so you can release the tension on the belts and replace them.

Hope to have helped you :)

Good to know a Suite is still going. I bought one new early 2000, ran it up to 85k miles in 3.5 years, and traded it for a Punto. Still miss it.

For those who don't know the Suite, it was a special, based on the SX, so has the soft suspension of the 'normal' cars, not the harsh Sporting, and has sunroof, central locking. It was then fitted with the 1.1 engine, as normal SX had the 900 at that time, but with a normal ratio gearbox, not the close ratio item of the Sporting. And Aircon.

Not as quick as a Sporting, the 1.1 engine was needed to drive the aircon. (Overtakes might need the aircon turned off to avoid the pump cutting in mid manoeuvre.) But more comfortable, and quite a lovely little car.

Yes

Normal position, front of engine, which is the right hand side of the car, viewed from the driver's seat.

Is the water pump driven by the fan belt opposed to the timing belt?
Water pump is driven by the cambelt, so best to replace when changing the belt.

Is the water pump situated front left bottomish of engine?
If you are viewing this from in front of the vehicle, then yes. There is a metal coolant pipe across the front of the engine, that locates into the rear of the pump housing. These can rust through, so if changing the pump, it is a good idea to have a good look at this, and change it at the same time, to avoid replacing the coolant twice. Pump is replaced from inside the timing cover.

Is there a specific brake bleeding order? as i usually start the furthest away from the fluid container and then the next furthest until the last finishing the closest to the container in that order.

Ha! Two questions in one.
Bleeding, your order should work fine.
As this has aircon, the auxiliary belt is tensioned by a sprung tensioner. If you think the belt is slack, possible causes are; old, worn belt: belt too long (No I can't remember the original length, and no longer have the old one hanging around, sorry.): Tensioner old and weak, or seized.

Is replacement of the fan belt done just by undoing the alternater bolts?
No. The sprung tensioner is released, and the belt slipped off. This needs care to prevent trapped fingers, because the tensioner will bite fiercely if let go. The tensioner has a nut on it, or a hex socket. Put a spanner on this, the longer the better, and lever the tensioner to allow the belt to slacken. Peel the belt off the pulleys, but keep fingers out of anywhere that will get pinched if the tensioner lets go. Have someone else nearby, just in case. (Always a good idea whenever working on a vehicle, no matter how trivial.)
