126 1990 Fiat 126 BIS (248 miles)

It costs a whopping £10k (much, much more expensive than most 126s on eBay right now) but I thought it was interesting.

As has been discussed in some of the classic car mags recently, if you pay way over the odds for a car because it's such low mileage, then you can't really use it very much as you'll take away some of the justification for the higher price.

You'll still be getting a car with very little use/wear. No or at least less rust if the car has been carefully stored but remember that many components deteriorate with time not just use/mileage, things seize up for lack of use etc. so some re-commissioning is likely to be required.

Probably a good buy if you wanted to keep a near perfect example of a car and avoid having to restore one. Probably cheaper than a full restoration anyway. I sometimes wonder if it's actually possible to do a full 'full restoration' anyway, unless you renew (and can obtain!)virtually everything.

It's one of those ones that you'd only buy if you weren't really going to use it. There are other Fiat 126 cars for much cheaper that I'd buy, some really are still in really good condition too, but in a usable state.

Paying over the odds for a car with low mileage will make you more likely to just not use it at all. Using it will decrease the value. I'd rather buy a car I want to drive than one I want to stick in my garage and never use.

As you say, parts will still seize etc, so it's still better off buying a cheaper one really.

I'd say that it's only really worth it if you wanted it for a museum or something. All original, not going to be used (at least not much at all).

Reason being - it's a lot cheaper, it's still fairly low miles, it's a RHD example and I'd actually drive it instead of keep it in the garage Thanks for your thoughts!
