Hi all,
I have a top-change gearbox on my Uno Turbo engine. Problem is it is filled with engine oil and there is a LOUD grinding noise coming from the gearbox or clutch - the clutch has less than 10 miles on it, and the G/B noises were not present before the clutch change to the best of my recollection.

What is the proper gearbox oil to use in these things for fast road use? Can you get a rattle or "box of pebbles" noise from just the clutch?

There is no change in noise if in clutch-pedal down condition, ditto in neutral or in any gear. The noise can come and go, it is not there perhaps 20% of the time during running. I do not recollect it jumping out of gear on overruns.

NO crunches during gear change, although it can be a bit difficult to change when car is started. I have a spare G/B in the garage somewhere for a "rany day" but would rather not get it changed if I can help it.

Any advise appreciated.

Regards
