Hi
In addition to our 2010 Panda we've just bought a 1984 Ducato 1.3T Motorhome.
(yes, yes, I know - mad!!)

anyway, new owner questions.
Does anyone know how I find out what cam-belt I need , its 2.5 NON turbo diesel, its got the pump on the front & the water pump is NOT cam-belt driven.

Also , are the rear brakes self adjusting or do they have proper adjusters?
The hand brake has excessive travel & the pedal feels 'long'

Any tips or advice on any aspect of this vehicle would be most welcome, I'm a former bus mechanic but i know nothing about this thing!!

Cheers , Gareth

They do have self adjusters (the 'unscrew-out-of-a-tube' sort) but unless they have been meticulously maintained are probably well stuck by now.

The textbook answer is probably to replace them if you can still get the bits but I used to just manually adjust mine from time to time.

Cheers , that's what I thought it'd be, self adjusters
. i.e. you adjust them yourself!!

Fancy a bet on how long to get the drums off ?!

WHY did I buy it? !

Because it will keep your skills as a mechanic honed:)

I had the petrol engined version and found that the 70's technology (adjustable pushrods; carb; distributor) to be well within my DIY skills whereas I'm constantly worrying that some sort of warning light is going to start flashing on the current model:eek:

Good point! I had a thought last night, can I tweak the pump for more power, but TBH ,it would only hurt the MPG more!

Hi gareth,is there any way you could take a pic of the rear of your fusebox.
Mine melted, and I've just replaced it.
She's a 1986 2.5 diesel fiat ducato motor home.
I've mixed one or two wires up.
I'm having a hell of a time trying to sort it out.
Thanks.
