Hi Guys
Any help or advice,
Would 185/65/15 be a problem fitting to my panda 4x4 from 175's

Thank's

Hi Richard, I believe your all season tyres on your 4x4 are 175/65/14 (like the standard panda with steel wheels.

If you wanted to move up in size you would need 185/55/15 (like the panda Lounge with alloy wheels).

175/65/14 TO 185/65/15 would mean a change in diameter of 38mm or 6.52%, way beyond the 2.5% accepted limit.

Whereas, 175/65/14 TO 185/55/15 would be a change of only 2mm or 0.34%.

The 4x4 has 175/65 R 15s (not 14) as standard, so a move to 185/65 15s would be almost negligible - about 6.5mm/quarter of an inch on the radius.

Your insurance company may consider it as a modification and use it against you in the case of a claim.

The Cross uses that exact size but consider that its had its arches altered to fit.
The follow text came from official fiat press release:
The FIAT Panda Cross also benefits from versatile all-season 185/65R15 Mud & Snow tyres. Larger than those of the standard Panda 4x4, these tyres were specially developed to ensure optimum traction and responsiveness on wet and dry surfaces, as well as snow-covered roads, while also ensuring excellent off-road performance. When combined with specific springs and redesigned bodywork, they help increase the ground clearance to 161 mm for the TwinAir version and 158 mm for the MultiJet model, while the improved attack angles of the FIAT Panda Cross are now close to those enjoyed by pure off-road vehicles: the approach angle is 24 degrees, the departure angle is 34 degrees and the breakover angle is 21 degrees. This allows the FIAT Panda Cross tackle a maximum gradient of 70 percent and lateral gradients of up to 55 percent.

The bigger tyres will fit just fine and will give a mild but useful increase in ride height - this is no big deal. They will also make then Leeds more accurate, as the slight increase in rolling radius will remove some off he engineered-in over reading. I will fit these 185's come the time my 175's wear out.

But if you do fancy the change, do remember to swap all 4 at once (y)

Save a new very similar thread I'll revive this one if that's ok...

Has anyone gone to 195/60/15's on a type 169 Cross? +1.2% diameter which seems fine to me, do they physically fit? Needless to say I'd change all four and inform insurance...

Been offered a good deal on some Dunlop Winter Response 2's in this size - looks a good all round tyre to me?

Cheers

I think you need at least a 6.5J wide wheel for that, 195/60 on a 6.0J wheel will sit very wide, and i doubt it will clear on the inside.
You could use steel/alloy Barchetta wheels, they are 6.5Jx15 ET32.
