Sadly blew up gearbox :( mananged to drive home 1/2 mile in 3rd and 4th but 2nd selected but not there and 1st not able to select... when car stoped put in neutral and now gear selecter locked in neutral and wont really move around the box.. please contact if you can help in anyway :)

or is there anywhere that can rebuild or repair it in uk any advice greatly appreciated
 
You could try Dean at Small Car Services (https://www.smallcarservices.co.uk/index.php/services/)

I can not guarantee that Dean can help but he may be able to provide additional leads.

He certainly has the offical Coupe Workshop Manuals (all updated etc.) as I gave him all my hardcopy manuals back in 2022! He also has/did have elctronic versions and also access to Fiat UK resources. He also is expererience in some Fiat gearbox rebuilds.

A lot depends on what you have actually done/damaged in your gearbox and that will require a strip down and inspection.

From what you are describing it looks/sounds like a selecter shaft issue. That could be the cars gear link controls (external to gearbox) or internslly to the gearbox.

As for UK Fiat resources then sadly if the Fiat is over 10 years old then support may be very limited if not out of this Universe :)

Hi mate, it might be worth contacting ant at Autosportivo Bedford, he seems to have loads of of coupe spare’s, or could give you advice 👍🏻

Many thanks for your reply and help :) when it blew i was in top end of 2nd boost and could hear metal rattling around untill put int to 3rd and 4th when at a junction managed to pull away in 3rd and soon got home allowed to cool and now just sits all sad :/ I will cetainly contact Dean thanks for the contact I'll send an update if I get any luck :D

Search on here, there is a member who is a retired gearbox man looking for business in the last few months may be advertising in classifieds. Ive chatted with hime and he seems a sound man!

Yes I believe so. I have chatted with him. He sounds right. I think hes recently retired and looking for a hobby that will be a little earner but not looking to fleece anyone

Many Thanks to freemangt3 for contacting me and selling me the box, what can I say excelent to meet you and talk cars, supurb service help and advice end to end, amazing price and quality so again thanks for help I wish you great fortune :D.. I would highly recomend this user within the community with huge amounts of Fiat knowledge, experiance, and all round a great guy .. my coupe engine was very happy to see it arrive :) thanks also to all who tried to help and answered this thread, i will keep all details and contacts for use in future and help others with what i have learnt from this amazing community :D 5*
 
Sadly the gearbox i brought from Freemangt3 is not the right box maybe somebody can help me identify it as i am unable to find a number on it anywhere as maybe covered in dirt.. but the linkages do not look like a coupe 16vt.. also I guess i still need a gearbox for a 1996 fiat coupe 16 valve turbo... so not 16v 20v or 20vt has to be 16vt.. :)
 
Have you used ePER and your VIN?

The Coupe has TWO ranges see below.

Your 1996 year could be for either a PC or PX model. Also 1750cc or 2000cc

Get the right one in ePER and then you will be able to see both old and superseding part numbers and the part numbers of reconditioned replacement units. ALSO what other makes/models used that gearbox. Will help you narrow down the correct replacement. Also give you the drawings, linkages, etc.
