Hello everyone i was searching the forum and couldnt really find a straightforward answer to my question,so i was wondering if anyone could help.I've had a 1997 147 bravo hgt since about jan last year and was wondering how to get some extra bhp out of it.Usually the best option is an air filter then a chip, but i cant seem to work out which hgt can be chipped the 155 or the 147 and next(if its the 147)is has anyone had it done on a 147 and are the results noticable?A friend had his vauxhall chipped a while back and it ran like a dog afterwards in lower revs,it was cool when you hammered the nuts off it but kept stalling. In the end he took it back and had original settings replaced.I wanted to get a chip rather than cams exhaust etc as they usually cost hundreds=thousands for a small increse, usually unnoticable.Any help or advice greatly appreciated, cheers.al

Hi Jayfish if you are selling the chip i am certainly interested, not really sure what it would involve transfrering it to my motor,is it a straightforward swap?or do i get a garage to do it?Dont even know how much they are lol.Sounds like i need one on the car if it works.Let me know when your getting rid and how much etc.Cheers al

It's a really simple job, disconnect your negative lead from the battery first. then just under your glove box is the ecu housing, remove 4 screws to get it free. Unclip the big black data cable and take off the plastic cover, you are left with a metal box. flip it over and there are 7 or 8 little metal flaps holding it closed, bend these back with a thin screwdriver. Inside there is a little chip about half the size of a stamp, with little gaps down two of the corners to slide something in to prise it out. Pop the superchip in its place and seal it back up and reconnect it and screw it back in place. Leave the negative lead off for 45 mins so the ECU unlearns it's settings, reconnect it and off you go.
You will notice more power from the off, but don't drive it hard for a tank or so until the ECU relearns it's settings, then Bob is your mothers brother :)

They cost £295 new, make me a sensible offer :)
