let me get this right, are you suggesting taking a 1242 and fitting an 1108? If so then the reduction will be out of all proportion to the small decrease in size as you now have a standard car instead of a modified one.
I know the 320 bhp Impreza WR1 is cheaper to insure than the STi with 306bhp Prodrive kit fitted, because the WR1 is standard, the STi is modified.

Cheers

ps if anybody wants a WR1, just let me know

Grumpy old git going fast downhill rather than downhill fast!!

If your talking about going from a 1242 to a 1108 it should be an easy job / straight swap. If any thing it'll be easier than 1108 to 1242, as the thats the original lump meant for the car. Does this mean the 1242 is for sale? :D

Cinquecento............Its not the size its how you use it!

Basiclly the car i have bought is 1242 Sei sporting. The best insurance quote i have gotten so far is £2600. Endsleigh have said that if i stick a 1108 back in then they will insure me for £1400 (other places have quoted to me cheaper online, but Endsleigh are the only ones i have spoken to in person). They say all it has to do is pass an MOT after the change and it'll be ok.

I am keeping the 1242 unit cos i do want to re-fit it but only when i can afford to insure it, ie when i have at least 1 years NCB.
So looking for a 1108 unit, someone must have one spare somewhere.

you bought the Abarth of ebay right?

did you declare the body kit to them when you applied for the insurance? i'm just wondering why the insurance is so high, how old are you? any no claims?

Note to RallyCinq-->

the car in question is a Seicento Abarth 1242, which has been modified from a 1108. Sticking the 1108 engine back in the car, will return it to its factory standard spec, hence the much lower insurance.

may have engine from 1108 with 46 000 clean motorway miles! let me find out wat insurance company says! wat price coz may hve to buy the car bak???? regards ian

whos ur daddy!???

I told Endsleigh about the body kit they said that didn't matter.
And yeah i bought the one off e-bay.
Insurance is so high cos i am 18, male, with no NCB and have been driving for less than a year.

If your engine is available i am interested in it.

Norwich union charge me £400 (21 years old, 1 year NCB) per year seicento sporting abarth, which includes legal cover & courtesy car (TPFT), so they are pretty good, but they won't cover mods, so if u do get the 1108cc back in it give them a try, if u buy off the website you get 10% extra off aswell.

Yeah Norwich Union is looking good atm, but again only if i can get a 1108 unit back in there.

Speaking of Insurance companies try Liverpool and Victoria, as the only mods that effect the premium are increases in engine size.

I know the car you have bourght DOES have an increased engine size but its worth a try as I'm 21 with 1 years NCB and mine was £750 with lowreing springs, new alloys, Punto GT brakes, Exhaust and induction kit all decleared. They also said that my insirance only goes up if I increase the CC size of the engine, meaning theoretically A Turbo and Nitrous could be added at no extra insurance cost, Oh the possibilities! ! !

Hope this helps

Brian

Ask any racer, any real racer, it don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning!

Liverpool Victoria sounded good so i gave them a call a while back. I was told NO performance altering mods, but all else no cost. They also etch your glass for free.

Another day...another problem...

Liverpool and Victoria wont insure me with a modified vehicle. They said to me that unless it is a factory fitted mod they won't insure me. They didnt even ask what had been changed.

I got some quotes from breakers for engines, but i'd rather buy one privately from someone here, i know you guys on here like your Fiats so wont have knackered the engine.
