Hi Guys
I was checking out sites with Cinqs featured and found a site called www.modifiedcars.com it has a modded Cinq sx with a tuned 1242 pushing out 120bhp is this possible?
Thats an awesome amount of power for such a small car,Thats 20bhp more than my old Suzuki swift gti (I swapped that for my p reg sporting)
Cheers
Adrian

Yep. GSR or MBG could probably tune a 1242cc to within an inch of its life and get that out, but that would never pass a MoT, cos that would throw the emissions rules off a bridge, or something as evil

A High boost turbo would achieve that without much if any difficulty :D

Edit - Having looked at that page, I doubt that'd be pushing that much power, It looks as though its using High Compression pistons, so I think a realistic power is more like 95-105BHp!

The work was done by the now defunct UAD and it is a 1.2 but even with headwork etc your never going to get another 60bhp so the claimed figures, 0-60 aye right and top end, no chance.

I agree, that sort of power fine with the 0-60, the top end, 130mph....gearbox...:S I guess Pete can say whether it is possible though.

Why did he do it to a SX and not sporting? The SX conversion is so much more expensive to do anything with isn't it....

He had an SX, modded it and decided to stick with it. The car allegedly produced 120 brake, but couldn't pass an MOT as it had no cat and a practically race cam - emmissions were bordering on neat unburnt fuel at low revs.

This car is alleged to have broken driveshafts it had so much power, but in reality it was undriveable and the owner resorted to a much milder state of tune to get something that was actually useable.
To give a comparison, Tosh's car, Julio Scorchio, kicks out 118 bhp with a 1242 high boost turbo, and they don't throw driveshafts so I smell a spot of BS somewhere.

There was a whole hell of a lot of controversy over the UAD conversions, and I've got a feeling this thread is going to go the same way as the last one concerning their work and get wiped.

Another comparison: TBSei's 1242 16v Sei on throttle bodies and a stand alone mappable engine management system kicks out 120 brake, but needs to turn 9000 revs to do it. This ain't in question though - it's genuine, trust me.

At the risk of joining the debate...

I'm pretty sure it never produced 120bhp either, but it did pop a few driveshafts until the cam was changed.

Drove the car once back from Clubcento karting outing and it was ok, but steering was terrible - so many turns lock to lock that it was hard to go anywhere other than in a straight line at any speed.

Once Tony took it back I never saw it again so no idea about emissions etc.

As for mine... 8k isn't that hard to reach and more important than the 120bhp is the 90lb.ft torque that is pretty much constant even from low revs. But hey, it's just numbers at the end of the day.
