General 1.9 Sporting - To buy or not to buy

Would I be mad to buy a 2006 1.9 sporting with 90,000 miles for around £3200

It's had the cambelt changed amongst other things but how long do these engines really go for? Would I likely be in for one problem after another?

Anyone with experience of a high mileage example?

The engine will be fine so long as it has had regular oil changes. Plenty of Alfas and Saabs go on to 150-200k with the same engine.

Be warned though that the clutch (and possibly dual mass fly wheel) may be in the later stages of their life at that mileage. Also check the gearbox for any noise as the bearings can fail.

About 2 month ago I brought a 2006 gp sporting (1.9) for just a little more than that with 62k on the clock it might be worth shopping around for a lower milage. I would definatly recoment the car though.

Even if it's in good knick with that mileage Wisebuyers only have it valued at £2800 from a private seller...worth shopping around or getting £400 knocked off it.

i would shop around mate, there's better deals i can see already in a ten second search. I got my 1.9 privately for 3200 a few weeks ago with 40k on the clock. I would definately advise caution. Im not sure where your from but a very quick example:
