has anyone ever tried this? or are there any major things that would stop this working?

go for it buddy, sounds like a good conversion, i know someone who converted there punto 4 door to turbo, one thing to remember is (and please if someone knows for certain please tell) is exhuast manifold sit next to the firewall instead of at teh front of the car like most, you may even get away with using the punto drive shafts this would save alot of money, although and not one for the purists, but how about a c20xe vauxhull lump, cheap to obtain and seems like a very good way of getting alot more power, someone fitted one in a seicento on teh fiat forum and it was a awesome car

if i did the conversion i'd buy a punto without mot as a donor car, use the engine, manifold, gearbox, drive shafts and also the rear brakes if they would fit, then fit a front mount intercooler, a decent dumpvalve and get it remapped... waiting to hear if i get offered a permanent job where im working atm, if so i'll start sorting things out :)

Sounds like you have been doing some diggin, if i were you i would join punto sports and speak to the owner chris, he has done this conversion himself in the past and may be able to help you out.

cheers
