Hi all,

im getting my 1242cc 8v turbo conversion set up on rolling road soon and so i am just wondering what boost pressures everyone is running on there cinq/sei turbo conversions as i good guide line :)

im using a 1.5mm decompression plate so can run a fair bit after a fair bit but without it being on th edge of throwing summat outta the engine ;) haha

thanks for any info anyone shares with me

cheers
Brin

Your limiting factor will be detonation since you have no way of retarding the ignition. This will be something the rolling road operator will advise you on when they map the car. They should give you a safe suggestion after they have carried out the runs. Using super unleaded and going slightly over rich should allow you to run a bit more. Obviously if you tune on super you'll have to run super all the time unless you have multiple maps.

If indeed there is no possibility to retard timing (can you advance it? just curious, don't remember what is your ECU setup), then this will be the limit. If your base ECU is 1.1/1.2 SPI, then I am guessing the story will end at about 0.4 bar boost pressure. If your base ECU is 1.2 MPI (IAW 8F/18F) then you may be able to get as far as 0.7 bar. (The WOT ignition on this ECU is generally more retarded). But, as said above, that also depends on the fuel and other factors. I recently had a case of 1.2 MPI ECU turbo setup with an Acquamist piggy back, there (with proper fueling) the engine was knocking at 0.5 bar already on unleaded 95.

I was running 6-7psi low boost and 12psi at high boost,

NOTE: as the compression has been reduced from normal, the ignition is effectively now retarded slightly.

the higher the compression generally the less advance
the lower the compression more advance.

you should be able to run 0.5Bar with relative ease on normal unleaded -I did (y)
