Hi I'm looking to replace my cat on my 1.2. I've removed the old one but looking in the Haynes manual it says that when I undo the exhaust pipe the down pipe end (below the bulk head) I'm to "recover the gasket^ however when I removed it, it didn't seem to have one. Is there supposed to be one there? It's quite rusty so it's possible that there could've been one there but it just corroded away

My 16V has always had exhaust cement between the manicat and the short bendable thing. Never had an problems with it like that.

If you do not already have one it is worth making or getting a bracket for the manicat as it passes by the gearbox to prevent it bending down and stressing the cemented joint. It is a special part from fiat and not very expensive. I made one from bits and pieces but with it being a weird angle it took me all day to get it right.
