right ive been offered a 1.1 engined punto with a six speed gearbox well i was just wondering is this the same engine as a cinq sporting has and is it as quick off the mark
easy to drop in
:plast of all will it be cheaper to insure than a cinq sporting engine

a 1.1 engine cheaper to insure than a 1.1.ummm.NO!!! AFAIK its the same engine but the 6 speed will make it accelerate faster but has a lower top gear, so if you do a lot of motorway miles it may be a chore

Don't you have a 899cc?? If so it won't be an easy drop in

Custard boy is spot on. As an bizarre example found recently, It is cheaper to insure the new Imprezza WR1 with 320 bhp, than an STi with the Prodrive pack @306 bhp, as the WR1 is a 'standard car'.

Besides, you need more than the engine and box to transplant into your 899.

Grumpy old git going fast downhill rather than downhill fast!!

Nope. Punto 55 is 1108cc, Punto 60 is 1242cc!!!

It needs new ECU, driveshafts, wiring loom, and probably dash instruments!

just thinking, you may pay more for a modified cinq on a 1.1 than you would with a sporting to begin with.look into it before you do any work as it will be easier for you to start with the sporting.

yes i know what you meen but even if i brought a sportin it wouldnt be standard i would still want better alloys, bodykit, better interior and stereo system so surely it will equal out the difference

Also that punto is not for sale anymore so aint botherin with punto engines but im soon lookin for a rolled or wrote off cinq sporting with good engine and transmission so if anyone knows of one anywhere tell me i will pay a good and reasonable price except i will need the loom etc, the lot basically
