I have a bad clutch judder on the car (apparently from the non-Fiat clutch plate fitted a year ago!) but recently when I move off slowly in 1st gear I get a typical gear whine sound for a few seconds then it goes. It is not evident in other gears. Also, when I am on a hill and riding the clutch, there is an odd noise (regular scraping/grinding) which I think is the clutch plate? Can anyone offer advice if this is totally a clutch problem or also a gearbox problem? NOTE: the regular scraping/grinding noise and the whine in 1st both came in together at EXACTLY the same time!

Hi there,I have a similar noise on a 19 td sw,but only when setting off up hills, mostly only when engine is cold,I have been told it is the clutch making this noise due to the revs dropping and the engine is under strain.it has done this on and off for 2/3 years and is not a problame worth removing the gear box for.
