I drive a 1991 Tempera 1.4. I have had an ongoing problem with the speedometer for most of the time that I have owned it (10 years). This apparently is a known problem where a resistor behind the clock burns out. Up to now I have been able to locate parts from breaker yards but they are now thin on the ground. Has anyone gome across this problem and would they know the value of the resistor so I can replace it myself of even what the cause of this problem is.

If you can take a photo of the area showing the burned resistor......
Soon i will open my dashboard to replace some lamps, it is easy to unscrew a few more screws an check it out, it will be the 3rd or 4rth time. Mine is a 1.6sx ie with digital dashboard. In any case i will make a panorama of a few macro fwtos just in case.

Kakourgos, Thank you for your reply, the speedometer in question is an analogue unit so will be totally different to your own.

Do you know which resistor (i.e. the location) has 'burned out'? If you're skillful with a soldering iron, go to your local electronics component store (maplin or the such-like) and get a higher power rated (i.e. not higher resistance).

I have Tempra estate L reg having problems with my speedo had all wires checked new sensor put on gear box, put different clocks in still not working but everthing on dash display works, any ideas?
