Hello

I have just bought an Fiat Tempra 1.8 i.e from 1990 with digital display. The problem is that I live in Denmark (km/h) and the speedometer is showing "mph"...
On the board I have only 3 buttons: Light, 0-Trip and Trip/"All".

Is is possible to change this reading? The car is earlier imported from Italy, but aren't they also using km/h in that country?!
Does anybody have some kind of downloadable Haynes manual or other manual?

Please help me :)

Best regards:

Normally tempras with Digi-dashs have four buttons - the fourth is marked mph/kph. I don't know how you're supposed switch yours over. Have you tried holding the three bttons in in various different combinations. Italy has always used KPH so this seems a bit strange.

Hi Andy

There is only the 3 buttons on the side and then some kind of LED (Light Emitting Diode) which perhaps should indicate a "alarm"? I don't know if the former owner has done some kind of "modding" to the Tempra?

I have tried to push the buttons in different ways without any help. But when I press "LIGHT" and holds it, and then push "0-Trip" it writes "02" in the mph area??

I was told by a Fiat dealer in Denmark, that behind the instruments (speedometer etc.) there was a switch (mph/kmh)... I have tried to remove all of the instruments, but no switch was found... (there only occured 2 new problems...)

1. I managed to reset both the trip (odometer) and the total mph. :-(
2. Now the oil lamp is allways on (to indicate low oil in engine or malfunction) :-(

Thats why I could really need some kind of Haynes/Porter manual to see if thats any help.

Regards, Martin

The 4th button isn't a mph/kph one. It's for the front foglamps (if installed).

Drivers window to the right, stearing wheel to the left. Can you tell which button you are missing? :D

I get the difference, but hot_fiat mentioned that Tempras with a digi dash have 4 buttons in total, not 5, so I thought that if the 4th is the mph/kph switch where's the foglamps one?

Errm... why would you want to change from mph to kph and you get to have a 5th button anywayz? What's more, the space left there is used for more buttons at the 4x4 Tempra SW. Since you have the extra button there, are the rest of the buttons in the 4x4 Tempra smaller (or the 4x4 never came in UK)?

Thank you for the answers. I only have 3 buttons: 1. tot/trip; 2. 0trip; 3. "light/sun".
My switch for fog-lights is sitting on the flashlight-stick and the button "Mph/Kmh" is missing... I dont really know what to do. We can get use to driving with Mph, but it could be nice to have it in Km/h.

That tempra does have digital dash - thats why it needs a mph/kmph button :D

The fog light control on your stalk - that will just be the rear foglights. The button at the side is a separate front fog-light control.

The light button to its left controls the contrast of the digital display.

Could you take a photo of your controls?
