Hey all,

Have a little problem with my Fiat Tempra SW from sept. 1993. The internal fan is not running anymore for quite some time now. Unforced air is able to come into the car but the I, II and III mark of the switch are nog working properly. Sometimes the III is working out of the blue but when you turn it to the II the fan goes off again. My gues it's a loose contact somewhere in the switch. Tried to take the unit with the air switches out but couldn't do so, the screws above the ashtray are out but it feels like it's hanging on something.
Could anyone tell me how to get the air switch unit out and is anyone familliar with my problem and knows the solution.
Tnx very much in advance.

Greetz Michel

PS. I already changed the fuse but didn't work

ok if you look under the glovebox area you will see the fan motor next to that is a relay, its probably the relay thats at fault but first, remove the motor by undoing the screw with the little clamp on and then wire up the fan directly to a battery using two wires to make sure it works ok.

I recently bought a 1995 Tempra 1.6 i.e. and the internal fan works intermittently.
The original owner says that he taps the fan dial and then it works again.
How do I get access to the wiring behind the dials to look for a loose contact?

O.K., I removed the cubbyhole (what Americans call the glove compartment), and I found the end of the wire from the fan dial not connected to anything. I did find a metal strip near it, so I hooked the end of the wire over the strip.
I observed that as I turn the fan dial, the end of the wire extends and runs along the metal strip. The only problem now remaining is when I turn the dial to the 4th and highest setting, the fan switches off.
Jimybob previously suggested in this forum that such a problem may be the relay, but I do not recognise a relay. There are four black boxes in a row but I don't think that one of them is a relay. Any help on this?
