well, things have advanced in my long serach for a tempra to buy. i currently have a selection between three tempras......and a Lancia Dedra!
the first tempra is a 1994 italian made tempra with digital dashboard and 95000km under the hood. i rather fancy a digital dashboard so this is my first choice. the others are 1996 and 1999 EGYPTIAN ASSEMBLED tempra both with 65000km under the hood. eyptian assembeled cars are not bad because very little skill is actually required and all the parts are imported, but the both have analog dashboards.
and then there is the DEDRA. 1993 model itlaian made with 150000km!!! under the hood. but it still looks like it did half that much. the car is in a great condition all repairs done at the fiat dealers so it just looks and feels new. now i would have never thought of a dedra if not that all 4 cars are at the same price range. the dedra looks much bigger than a tempra and the boot is a lot larger with an amazing dashboard that occupies almost 3 4ths of the car's width, it is HUGE but sooo elegant. the interior of the car looks somewhat similar to the tempra but with better materials and more luxorius. the car looks much longer than a tempra but actually it is a whole centimeter shorter according to various sites on the net, but it is 1.5 sm wider. the engine is a 1.6 spi model not carburetor like the tempra, it has 2 hps more (86tempra vs 88 dedra)
Now,help meeee.
i'm so confused i don't know what to choose. i really fancy the dedra but it is a rare car here in egypt so maintainance cost maybe higher. also fuel consumption for a 150000km engine is bound to be worse than a 65000km one even if it is injection. but the dedra is just sooo tempting.
did any one own a dedra before? please help me and kick some sense into me to buy the tempra, as i feel it is the more sensible choice, but i just can't let the dedra just pass by.

Dedra is the same car in the end, just the luxuary spec version of the tempra, but my personal feeling is to go for the 99 made tempra with 65k on its clock, its a good amount of km travelled, for a 5 year old car, the dedra being double that age it may have more wear and tear to deal with.
The 99 model, what version is it for its spec, S or SX?
Going by my own experence, I fell for a Lancia Y10 once, very lovely car but was a bad choice in the end, was falling to bits with starter motor failure, speedomitor failure, light switch failures and that was 2 months after getting the car, electric windows still worked though. Swiched to a Basic Fiat Uno after that and got fault free driving from it for the 3 years I had it
