How comfortable is your tempra, really..

having sold my old rusted regata 85s last week, i'm currently on the look for another car, and i have been reading and dreaming about tempras for some time. i got my first test drive of a tempra yesterday,....and i'm disappointed.
one thing i noticed immediately was that the drivers visibility was much worse than the regata. the driving position is much lower and the rear view through the rear window is just a joke, i could hardly see anything behind me.
the regata's seats were much higher and the rear view was much better.
also, i'm one of the guys that like to move the drivers seat forward and sit very close to the steering wheel, but i couldn't get a comfortable close position to the wheel.
also, one thing else. i tried the air conditionning in the car(digital a/c-climate control) but the air coming from the side and rear(passenger) fans of the a/c was just too low/weak even at max fan setting. i must admit the tempra is much more luxurious and elegant than a regata but i expected much more from the tempra after hearing so much great stuff about it.
are all tempras like this or did i just happen to see one in a bad shape(although it only did 70,000 KM)
i'm actually currently thinking of buying a tofas dogan/sahin car instead(made in turkey under fiat license)
come on guys, what do u think.

the car was a 1993 1.6sx tempra 86bhp engine.manual.

Re: How comfortable is your tempra, really..

Rear visability was never its strong point, its got such a high sitting boot.
was wondering about the seat, it should have hight ajustment on it. On our old tempra sx it was rather odd, it moved the seat forward and up seperatly to the movement of the seat forward or back, Was that on the car or missing?
I know myself when I was driving the car I'd need the seat as far forward as it can go and then use the hight as far up as it would go just to get closer to the pedals, because of the way it was designed with the hight making it go forward further, was the only way I could drive it. Was the only issue though, as It was a nice car to drive
Im not sure on the aircon/climate control as ive only experenced this in the Stilo, which does work very nicely.
The Milage does appear quite low for its age as well.
Maybe its worth looking at a Tempra Weekend as that does have the better rear visability being an estate car.
If a saloon is a must would a Marea be an option or is that out of your price range?

Try a Bravo or a Brava. The visibilty is slightly better, not much though.

I wasnt wanting to suggest the brava for the visability, I find it pretty shocking for its rear visability, Still trying to get used to it. But the Marea at least does appear to have better rear visability at least

Re: How comfortable is your tempra, really..

Have to confess that my old Tempra was a b****r to park - not just the "letter box" rear window but also the lack of power steering, being a poverty spec 1.4. However despite being a bit worn, I found the front driving seat very comfortable - more comfortable than my current SEAT.

I quite liked those Regata based Tofas's I saw whilst on holiday in Turkey last year - seemed to be the taxi driver's choice of motor anyway!

Re: How comfortable is your tempra, really..

well, a friend suggested using a seat cushion to raise the driving position as most tempras sold in egypt didn't have hight adjustable seats. i actually saw another tempra 1993 digital dashboard with a/c and ELECTRIC SUNROOF. i almost went ahead and bought it if not for its average condition. aren't they still being manufactured in turkey under the tofas name? i wish i could get an imported new one. this should be easy in a year or so when egypt joins the GATT agreement.
