Hello everybody!

I have a Tempra from my father, it's a 1.6 SX.i.e.cat 1991 model. :)

On the first month of purchase, it had a very serious crash on a turn on the highway. It crashed on the safety bars on its left side while running on a right turn. It lost its' front left wheel during the crash. The wheel, as it detached from the chassis, hit under the left side of the car frame, creating a serious deformation of the frame, causing the front windscreen to brake. The reason for the crash was my father overspeeding... :(

Anyway, since the repair was made, I never took a look into the repaired part of the chassis which is under the drivers feet. Recenlty I freaked out :eek: discovering that the chassis is quite rusted and that the repair was of very bad quality (resonable, since it was not repaired by authorised service personel) :mad:

I want to fix the chassis, but I cannot think of any proper solution. :confused:

-Should I cut out this corner of the car and replace it with a new one?

-Should I clean out the rust, repair it properly on a specially designed matrix,
and then reinforce the chassis with roll-bars?

-Should I dump the chassis and buy a non-crashed, and non-rusted one? (!)

PLEASE give me a hint... If there is anyone with a Tempra that has sustained similar heavy damage, and knows any proper fix method that was applied for his car, I am really in the need for ideas! Thank you in advance...

PS: I really love this car and I want to keep it, but with a chassis in such a bad condition, I think it will have a short life... :(

Might just be easier to get hold of a complete and none crashed tempra sx. Could end up the cheaper option and also less time consuming.

With your current tempra, you'll have to wonder, if its rusting, what are the condition of the joins, are they safe, not going to split

Well, the question is what means to replace the chassis;

a) I simply buy a chassis from somewhere, or...
b) I have to buy another Tempra so as to get the chassis from it?

The second option does not seem to meet my interests, since buying another car (i.e. a basic version and adding on it the extras from mine), would mean to stop "playing" with "my Tempra" and start using another car,
if you know what I mean... (yes, unfortunately some things and decisions in life are of emotional character for me...!)

The first option creates an odd question;

-If possible, where can you buy a bare chassis (with a reasonable price) for a Tempra? Are these models still produced in any part of the world? Do car yards or car "graveyards" sell such kind of stuff?

Once again any ideas are welcome. Thank you!

Option a does not exist (as far as i know)
There is always the option of a scrapped tempra(blown engine)and building from there. If you insist you can always fix yours but i doubt it will be any good:)
