I tell you my long story ... I have a Ducato 2.3 150cv 2017

With 45,000km the engine fault light came on for the first time, symptoms went into protection mode, I turn off and on the engine and it goes perfect but with the light,
I went to fiat and they told me it was the egr, they changed it and the same afternoon as I left the workshop again the light, egr failure, turbo failure ... I go to the workshop again and they tell me it is the turbo, € 2200 like this I let it be and look for another workshop.
In this new workshop after looking at everything they tell me that it is the vacuum valve, they change it and for about 100km it works well and then it returns with the same symptoms, loss of power that returns when removing and putting the contact and failure egr turbo failure. .
Keep driving and I go to a new workshop, this one tells me that it is a fap thing, that it is very full, they force a regeneration with the computer and for 2000km I carry the engine something, you turn and it does not fail, until the problem returns again. I buy an OBD2 and look at the faults
p0238 turbo sensor circuit high
p0401 / p0402 / p0409 egr faults

I decide to disassemble and clean the turbo sensor that was black ... I look at the throttle valve and the egr and they are clean

A few km and the same failures come back again, although alternately, sometimes egr, sometimes turbo separately.

Bored and I decide to disconnect the egr and it only marks the failure p0409 Egr sesor a circuit (pending Fault) I will try a few more km to see what is happening

In short, every 2 or 3 days the fault appears again, turn off and it works well, it has power, it rises well in laps and speed, the consumption is stable, the idle is stable, it does not make strange noises but I cannot repair it.

Summary of what I've been wearing so far
-egr new
-vacuum valve sensor
-cleaning the map
-Forced cleaning of the fap
-review of the rubber tubes of the vacuum valve

Any more ideas where to go?

Probably next week change the MAP sensor, to see if there is luck

Después de cambiar los sensores y limpiar lo más posible, mi solución fue cancelar electrónicamente el egr y la luz amarilla y la pérdida de energía terminó.

I assume that means cleared the codes? I'm not aware that Euro 6 engines allow deleting the EGR, after all the Euro 6 has the industry peculiarity of two EGRs

I wonder if someone can provide the English translation for the above two replies please. I can't work out on my phone how to do it.

Translation:

Egr 401-402 faults were coming out continuously. When disconnecting the cable from the egr it worked at 100% and without loss of power until the fault came out. He erased the codes and they came out again.
I have canceled the Egr electronically, there are no more errors, 100% working and correct functioning of the DPF. I have also taken the opportunity to increase the power to 190cv. The last option to repair was to disassemble the egr cooler, many hours of work and therefore to discard it.
After 40,000km with the breakdown and more than € 1000 spent at last happy

It is not the correct solution, but it fixes the problem and prevents future problems with the egr.

sorry for the language, I write in English but my browser translates everything automatically.

A couple of points for anybody reading this.
1/. In the UK I think I'm correct that defeating emissions control is both illegal and punishable in court.
2/. For a Euro 6 Ducato there was a Fiat software revision related to EGRs, it's recorded on this forum by PCVehicle movements. I had ours updated 6 months back.
3/. I don't think you could use a dealer again for any other event as said dealer may update the van software, this would probably remove and replace the 'egr delete' and reinstate it.
4/. I'm suspicious that the fault codes given accusation that the EGR is at fault is an industry problem because it's pointing the repairer in the wrong direction. I'm going through the same sequence of events and have wrongly fitted a new EGR. For me I hope Ive sorted my fault by replacing the MAP and Turbo Boost solenoid, however, I'll have to drive a few times/ days without a fault code reappearing. I'm still cautious. There is a current post by me.
The fault codes also appear when there is an air leak in the intercooler and/ or it's pipes, a pressure misreading due to faulty Throttle body and /or MAP.
It really needs a lot of guesswork for trial and error.....

I can understand the solution taken by luisdebcn because there is no service dealer or member on here that has a definite knowledge and solution. You unfortunately have to make your own guesswork decisions on a trial and error path and keep fingers crossed.

I have visited 3 official fiat services. One in Morocco diagnosed egr. Second in Spain, egr change (€ 600) and broken turbo diagnosis (€ 2000) do not change it. third official fiat in italy, solenoid diagnosis, changed and continuous error. Another multi-brand workshop, dirty Dpf, cleaning and nothing ... On my own I cleaned the butterfly valve, intake, checked all the tubes and wiring, change the map sensor. The problem continues ... I also contacted fiat customer service without any solution, to change the turbo. Patience has its limits ... my experience with fiat is bad and now I am finally driving with power and without errors.
