Just wondering if anyone has had any luck using Multiecuscan on a 3 pin connector?

1999 car.. Fiat can't/won't diagnose ABS light...

This is a car killer issue...
:-(

Thanks
Steve

Just looked at your other posts and assume this is on the 1.6 Marea?
If so, yes MES will work with the Marea and a 3 pin adaptor.
If you already have a ELM 327 adaptor that will work for the ABS, but if buying something new get a KL (Vag-Com) interface as the engine diagnostics won't work with an ELM.
It should all work on a Win10 laptop. You can access the ABS on the free version but it is limited to 15 minutes at a time.

These are suitable interfaces

I've used both sellers.
If you are near Cambridge I can put MES on the car for you.

Many Thanks for the reply Robert, much appreciated.
and yes there's a few other posts, hopefully getting slightly less clueless as we go on..

Thanks for the links.

Where I'd got to was chatting to this chap, seems friendly, helpful.

I've got a Dec 1999 marea 1.6 and a Jan 2001 brava 1.2 so I was interested in a dual solution:
The brava has a 16 pin, I bought a handheld code reader for it but it wasn't fiat specific enough so it didn't tell me much. I'm hoping this software is more helpful.

After discussion the seller recommended the above ebay link used like this:
Marea is 3 pin to 16 adapter to blue 16 pin to usb.
Brava is elm 327 to usb.

You raised an issue with the ELM though...

(The emergency right now is the marea.)

I'm in Northampton but sadly the middle exhaust box has exploded so it can't go far.

The dilemma being whether to buy the exhaust (annoyingly with 15% off on ebay until tomorrow) when I don't know if I can fix this ABS issue first - MOT failure...
Obviously, it's not worth a new exhaust if it's terminal anyway.

Anyhow, back to the point.
I guess "my" sellers version for the marea only would be

The guy has spent some time with me today so I'd like to reward with a sale if it looks ok..???
*** That said would your links work for both cars? ***

I notice one of your sellers claims a genuine chipset, don't know if that matters or if the others just didn't claim it..

More answers, more questions.. Sorry.

RE: Both the KKL only package and the dual ELM/KKL your seller lists have similar capabilities on both your current cars

Thanks again for the replies, I do appreciate your time.
:)

Ok, so I could try the KKL only on the Brava too, and then get the ELM if it didn't work...

As for the software, they just put the free version on CD but then perhaps they aren't even allowed to do that... I don't know.

Quick update...
(I haven't replied previously since I've been unable to login using edge browser, I thought the forums were broken. I'm now using opera instead...) [I've cleaned cache etc in edge, weird...]

Anyhow, I needed the full version of the software but it worked, I manged to connect
to (I presume) the ABS 3 pin connector and got a left front speed sensor code. So that's
now fixed. I couldn't get the other connector (engine?) to work but I didn't need that for that particular emergency, but I'll try again when I have time.
Thanks for all the help.

Ok, quick update.
Changed the front left wheel sensor and the abs light went out.
Now, a few days later and the ABS light is back, along with the red exclamation mark light.
Codes are C1035 - front left wheel sensor no signal (as before)
but now also has
C1245 Vehicle speed signal (Invalid signal).

The pedal shudders under braking again, like the ABS is trying to kick in.

I'm fairly sure the second code is new, when the light went out after the sensor change I didn't clear the codes so I've just done that in the hope that it stays away, but somehow I doubt it.

If I've changed the indicated sensor and it keeps saying there's a problem, what else might it be?

The fight to save the Marea continues, there's only 3 others of this model left...
