Stop start wont calibrate

HI guys, hoping you guys can help. My alfa guilietta 2.0 jtdm had a broken wire on the start stop sensor (gearstick bit). I had it replaced but when it comes to calibrating it on multiscan ecu its say complete and nothing has changed. And still say neutral position sensor. I have had it in at a auto electrician to fully check all the wiring and everything is fine. When plugged into the diagnostics it shows the gears changing etc when you move the stick but it will not set the neutral position. Does anyone have any ideas? The check engine light is on because of this and i have run out of ideas on how to clear the fault.

Re: Stop start wont calibrate

I saw a post on a different forum with a panda that had same problem
Solution was carry out the change gearbox procedure on scan tool then calibrate neutral position.
This may work for you.
Good luck
Please let us know

Re: Stop start wont calibrate

Thanks i will let the garage know. I phoned the ALFA dealers this morning in Leeds and got the standard answer you need to bring it into us, rather than a quick word with a technition that had probably come across this loads of times to point us in the right direction of have you tried this approach. Bearing in mind we are in lockdown and and my "local ALFA dealer" is 25 miles away. Rather than my old dealer which has closed down ( was ten mins from us). Hence it being in at a local normal garage. But hey ho probably the last alfa we get. Although probably get the same help level from other brands too. Rant over. Lol

I don't know for sure but think that MES should be able to do the procedure .
MES is a lot more capable than many scan tools

i have multiscsn ecu on my old pc that i did the original diagnostic on the car with. I had a quick look last night when you mention it. Only thing i could see about it was changing a tct(auto) box. It is a old version though to be honest on my old windows xp laptop so i csnt update thr software.

Re: Stop start wont calibrate

Finally got it sorted. Turns out the switch was not calibrated properly with the red tag from the factory so was giving out a incorrect value setting. So auto electrician had to get it to set right giving off 2 amps instead of 2.1 when in neutral. Then put it back on the car and set neutral position on his diagnostics. Back to all working good now. Sport switch etc back working and engine management light off. Even he said he has done loads of these switches but never had one as awkward to setup as this one.
