Hi all, got my MOT coming up and the horn does not work. i have started by checking the fuse which is fine however the fuse socket on either side has no power supply what so ever. the fuse sits loosely within the socket also. does the port have to sit snuggly to get power?

thanks for any help

I have only owned the van for around a week. The horn itself seems to function. I was under the impression the circuit runs feed-fuse-relay-switch-horn. Is this correct? Or does anyone have a circuit

I am yet to do much more investigation work as I have hit a hurdle on the first check. Where exactly does the feed into the fuse housing come from? As I do not seem to be getting a live either side of the fuse socket

It’s a 2010. Only other thing not working is the cigarette lighter which will be my next task :). I just don’t the circuit and how it works. I’ve lifted the fuse box out and tried to follow some of the wires. The wire which is the incoming power I believe because the other side runs to the relay just runs back into the branch and inside of the car I believe, I don’t understand where this cable picks up it’s live feed from?

Just to confuse matters even more I fed a direct live to the fuse socket and got nothing, however once I tried to unmount the horn from its bracket the socket sounded the horn. I’m thinking now horn earths with the mounting nut? Is this correct?

Ive not fiddled with a dodgy horn in years thankfully

I seem to think you might be correct..

Just the 1 cable there ??

If so.. it must be a bolt.down earth

Thanks for your help mate.

The connector has 2 sockets so I’m really confused. I’m going to start over tonight see what I can find

Sounding like the earth is lost..

Although Im still a little unsure of what you found with the fuses..

Put a meter on the horn cable..to the battery earth

Should give 12v with every horn prod

Worth spinning the wheel too.. checking for dead spots ;)
