Hiya Guys n Gals,
I am looking for some tech guidance on a suitable ELM 327 V2.1 + interface unit to use with Multiecuscan.

I have checked the Multiecuscan web site and as much as I would like an OBDLINK MX+ they are way tooooo expensive compared to the ELM 327 devices for sale on both eBay and Amazon.... but it looks like the data on the Multiecuscan website is a bit out of date and also some of the links don't work...

Has anyone got any recommendations for something from Amazon that they have tried and worked? (Must be iOS / iPhone compatible)

There seem to be loads on there ranging from under a tenner to around £30... surely one of these must be suitable to work with Multiecuscan!!!

If I can help it I would rather get it right first time! Rather than having to order several and finding they won't connect to the iPhone Multiscan interface...

My car is a 500L Trekking 1.3 multijet Euro 6 - 2016 and I need to reset the service indicator and service coupons etc....

Ok here is what I know;

Unless it's a special adapter like MX+, anything that has Bluetooth version lower than 4.0 doesn't work with the iPhone.

I have tried a BT 4.0 ELM v2.2 clone with AlfaOBD and MES desktop, neither worked. Ended up buying another bluetooth ELM327 v1.5 and this one worked with some of the modules until I've removed the 120 ohm resistor from the CAN pins. After that it worked flawlessly.

Now I've never tried the MES mobile on an Apple device but if I were to take a gamble, I would get the Wi-Fi v1.5 version with the ones that advertise as having PIC18F25K80 chip in them.

So to summerize:

  • You have to get a Wi-Fi because BT 4.0 won't work with MES and BT 2.1-3.0 won't pair with iPhone.
  • Adapter has to support all of the ELM commands from version 1.0-1.4 and only the ones that say v1.5 with the PIC18F25K80 chip work reliably IMO. v2.1's are usually bad clones.
  • While it doesn't really matter, you should get the biggest dongle in case there is an improper termination on the CAN line with a 120 ohm resistor. It would be easier to remove that resistor on a bigger PCB. This resistor is mentioned many times on this and MES forums so you can find a guide for it in case you come across one.
You should also get the yellow adapter(no. 3 on MES website) if you want to connect all of the modules and reset the service indicator.

I personaly know nothing about apple products.
I normaly use An OBDlink SX use with Multecuscan and AlfaOBD win10 and Android.
Recently i aquired a Bluetooth Vgate-iCarPro £24 from ebay. Beware there are cheap (£10) copies that do not work. I have had This working with both Multecuscan and AlfaOBD . (only tried engine ECU so far). This is BT4 BLE Device that is advertised to work with IOS.
I cannot afirm that it would work with your equipment.
ps did you follow up on Besa suggestion? Have you got it working?
