Hi all

I’ve got a 2017 Tipo Station Wagon which has the full size spare wheel. Just checking it today and found that the black plastic thing (which holds the wheel and jack in place in the boot) with ‘open’ and ‘close’ on it turns, but the bolt inside this isn’t turning, thus meaning I can’t get the spare wheel out. Glad I discovered this at home rather than on a far flung hard shoulder in a distant galaxy. Any ideas on how to loosen the nut? Thanks.

Use the wheel wrench the socket should fit the center of the release screw pretty handy design
Edit misread it first time try getting a pair of mole grips on the underside of the screw/bolt you may be able to get enough grip to get it moving

Alternatively you could try putting a load of super glue in the centre of the plastic part to glue the center back on

Yeah, it's the plastic thing which is on the nut that keeps the spare wheel and jack in place. i think it's either been over-tightened or cross threaded because the nut is really tight, but the black plastic 'tray' over the spare wheel, which holds the jack, is loose. I can't do anything until tomorrow now, but I'll have another look. I tried some grips on it, but they just deformed the plastic and wouldn't grip the bolt. The plastic bit moved around the bolt, but the bolt didn't move.

Did you try from underneath the bolts sticks out a fair bit so should be gripable
Alternatively you may get two nuts on end of the bolt then you a ratchet on them to start unscrewing the a little way

If anyone is interested, I have an update regarding the spare wheel removal problem I had. The thread was seized lower down. I took it to the garage I bought the car from and they sorted it for me free of charge. Without having any way of getting under the car easily, it would have been tricky for me to sort it. Anyway, copper grease on the lower part of the thread should stop this happening again.

You should. Able to fit under the rear no issues with it say on the wheels the rear is quite high off the ground with no weight in the back
