Love the old tin.
I put my waste oil into a standard 25l drum. Like yours, just about liftable, or was last time I tried.
Having just changed the oil on the Fabia, I noticed my drum is now very full. Oops! I usually intend to empty it at about 3/4 full. May need to decant some before the trip to the tip. That'll be messy.
I've had the drum for a long time. In the early eighties my mother was running a Morris 2200. Lovely car, smooth and powerful engine, but drank oil quite quickly. Consumption was eased by having a drum at home. Second drum sat on tp of the first, with a tap! First drum now my waste oil container. Glad oil consumption is now very low, with prices as they are now.

Silkolene was aquired by Fuchs in 1989.

AFAIK, Castrol and Fuchs are different entities. On a Quick Google search with those names, I stumbled upon the lawsuit that opposed them in SA concerning product names
http://www.saflii.org/za/cases/ZAGPPHC/2014/1031.html

This is correct Fuchs own Silkolene, and at the same time Century oils. Castrol and Fuchs are not related, in fact Fuchs is still a family owned business. The largest privately owned lubricant company in the world. if my memory serves me right.

Cheers,

Guy
