Mystery stuttering

I have a 2012 Fiat 500c 1.2 petrol with 50k miles on the clock which until lately was running well. Recently I discovered occasional bad stuttering of the engine which only happens when giving the throttle a generous press down to rapidly accelerate (for example when negotiating a steep hill) but does not stutter when building speed gradually. With the associated jerking and stuttering of power comes a dashboard full of warning lights, leaving the warning triangle, stop-start function indicator lights illuminated and the engine management light flashing. They all reset after the engine has stopped for a period. Can I seek views on the likely causes to investigate please?

Re: Mystery stuttering

Check plug leads are secure. Change the plugs? Plug in diagnostic and test coils. Oddly my 1.2 has recently done similar, but only once..... I was also going to use a Gunson's Spark Tune to look at the spark gap potential. Mine had a misfire P003 cylinder three. As its recently been serviced I might just take it back and let them check it!

Re: Mystery stuttering

Thanks..... I plan to remove the plugs on my next day off to see if they all seem okay. For diagnostics I will need to visit my local garage though....

Re: Mystery stuttering

Just a quick update: I removed the plugs (using my home-made plug-boot removal tool) and inspected them. They seemed a touch on the grey side rather than a straw colour....but maybe that's more in line with a lean burning engine? Anyway ordered new NGK plugs and plug leads from Carparts4less (there are other car-part suppliers) for about 23 delivered next morning. Plug changing on the Fiat 500 is an awkward job in my opinion, but not one that needs to be done too often.
Anyhow, whether the leads or a plug was the cause I do not know, but all seems first rate again ;-)
