Just going to take my first dive into ePER and I'm wondering, on the first page that comes up after you click on ePER in the blue border at the top of the page, what is the "Drive L/R" with boxes SX and DX all about? mine shows the DX box with a tick in it. Do I just ignore this page and click on GO! or do I need to alter anything?

Told you all I was clueless about computers!
Regards
Jock

Ps feeling a bit depressed because the weather is looking lousy for the SICD on Sunday! Ah well, I suppose we Scots are used to the rain.

You don't need to alter anything, SX and DX are the Italian equivalent of left and right (sinestro and destro ... if my memory serves!), it refers to which side the steering wheel is on :)

sinistro / sinistra = left
destro / destra = right

For us right hand drive Fiats then an easy way to get it right (no pun intended) is when you see DX then the D=Driver's Side :D

That's a really good one to remember. A bit along the lines of "righty tighty" and "Lefty Loosey"? - At least that is until you come across left hand threaded wheel nuts on the N/S!

Thanks again

OOPS! Do I mean O/S? Been so long since I did one I can't remember! Logically, thinking about direction of rotation and inertia, I think O/S (right hand side - looking forward) is right?

Correct. ( AFAIK )

I bought a trailer tent.. had a blow.out on 1st trip.. then sheared the 1st wheel nut I attempted to remove .. :(

Luckily recovery fella had truck experience..
And sussed it.

Embarrasing at the time.. but nut was flush.. so no thread visible.

Very easy to get caught out on left hand threads.

It is fairly common practice on left hand thread nuts and bolt to put a little "V" cut/notch in the apex points of the nut/bolt flats.

That's interesting. I've never noticed this, but then again how often do you come across left hand threads - and when I do about the last thing I'm looking for is this. I'll be keeping my eyes open for it now so thanks.

The Vee is often generated in a lathe..

Just a notch through the proud corners of the Hex.
I just remembered what I have that definitely has this - my old oxy-acetylene gear:

The Acetylene (fuel) gas fittings are all left hand threads so you can't cross connect when assembling. They are all marked like this even the big cylinder connecting nuts on the regulators. The Oxygen ones are just plain (and right hand threads). So, I was lying when I said I've never noticed this before! However I wasn't thinking of gas connectors.

I don't keep the cylinders any more, ever since my insurer nearly had a stroke when he found out I had them in my garage! Probably a good thing as, looking at the condition of my hoses, I would probably need to renew them if I were to want to use the gear again.
